Another one of the ‘culinary herbs’, bay tree immediately reminds you of Mediterranean and it is a favourite outside decoration of many restaurants, hotels, offices, as well as private gardens and buildings in general. Its thick green leaves make bay trees into good topiary, but they do have the added advantage of being quite pleasing to the eye. They will respond well to pruning and will do well in most types of soil.
