We Say NO To VAT Price Increase

With the recent increase in the standard rate of VAT from 17.5% to 20% that has come in force on 4th of January 2011, all sales of standard rated goods and services will be charged at the 20% rate. Meaning that retailers, including most florists, all across the country have been putting up prices in order to account for this price hike. Of course, we will certainly not dwell on whether this is a good economic solution for the United Kingdom as we really mostly are interested in flowers and our customers’ satisfaction in our products. And as such, in order to try and keep their smiles as wide as possible, we have decided not to go with the flow and keep from the increase in our flowers delivery for as long as possible. Just another small favour, but it really does matter that much to us.

On the subject of saving money, I have realised just how fairly priced our hand tied bouquets are when, after forgetting about a certain somebody’s birthday, I was forced to buy flowers at a certain florist who’s based in Central London (I really should actually keep this away from the Flower Station’s fanatics that I sit next to every day). After telling this florist that I was after a mixed gerberas bouquet of flowers that I thought would be quiet simple and cheerful – I had ended up forking out £50 for a minute bouquet that I could tell was not even expertly put together. To think that a Mass of 20 Gerberas in our shops costs only £19.99 with a FREE delivery included. It had really made me a little angry, but at least a little more convinced and motivated to fight for our little cause and make sure that luxury flowers are available and affordable for just about any pocket. I have since made myself a promise to think ahead, especially when it comes to buying presents for birthdays.
