Flowers Are a Lovely Christmas Surprise
Christmas gifts can be a pain if you try to find something for someone special who keeps reminding you that ‘they have everything they need and want’. But arriving empty handed doesn’t seem an option on Christmas, and the struggle begins. A gift of flowers, on the other hand, can take you out of the quandary.
Flowers as a gift are never wrong. And Christmas is an occasion where they may be more appropriate even than anything else. A bouquet or an arrangement made especially for the occasion brings that Christmassy feeling wherever you are headed for. It may make sense to combine the present with a vase for young householders starting out, or it can elevate a gift voucher into the realm of art. Or, if the recipients are in need of a jardinière for one of their plants, an arrangement may be presented in that. The jardinière may later be used for the plant it was intended for in the first place.
Christmas arrangements and bouquets can be made very festive and themed for Christmas, as many flowers have a connotation with Christmas. Amaryllises, white daffodils, carnations, and Gerberas can be used for displays in typical Christmas colours. And as I said on other occasions, to make a present of roses is never wrong. Combined with festive greenery like pine or holly, and with the added colour of Hypericum and ilex berries, such arrangements are as festive as a small Christmas tree. Even Poinsettias can be used. As Poinsettias are used with their roots intact in an arrangement, they are an added bonus for any gardener receiving such a gift.
You may decide that some Christmas decorations are in order, too, and add baubles, stars, or other small ornaments to an arrangement. Or you may personalise it by adding small titbits made of chocolate or marzipan. A gift voucher or vouchers can be wired by the florist and integrated as part of the arrangement. There are many more possibilities how to transform a bouquet into the very personal Christmas gift you wish to give away.
Giving away Christmas themed flower arrangements isn’t limited to Christmas; they may be the ideal present to bring along anytime in December. As many put off getting their Christmas trees until shortly before the main event, a bouquet is a lovely build up to the festive season. It is especially appropriate for professionals who might be leaving for a Christmas holiday to bring some festive cheer to last until their departure. And if they are leaving for a holiday, the choice of flowers over plants is a wise decision.
Don’t let yourself e limited in your choice of colours, either. If you know the recipient has a Christmas tree decorated in a particular colour, you have the choice of going with the colour scheme, or to complement it with a contrast. While red, white, gold, and green are traditionally associated with Christmas, there is no prohibition in place on any other colour you may choose. And if you want to make a gift to a person with a known favourite colour, this will be a good choice, too.
