Last week had probably witnessed the last ‘crazy’ Saturday with multiple weddings and events done in one day. We have to say that; overall, it was a very (very) successful year for our weddings and events department with record number of events being held this year. A lot of these had been done at venues that we’ve never worked in before 2011, but had done so multiple times this year – quite unbelievable and just great experiences all around for all of us here at Flower Station.

So it was the case this Saturday and even I had made an effort very early in the morning to go out with our guys to a couple of these venues to experience what decorating these places is all about. What struck me the most is that the caterers, waiters and managers of both venues had been very familiar with all our drivers and florists and were on a first name basis with them. It was also good to see just how hard the rest of the catering industry is working and most of all I was very happy with the fact that I could see managers from both sides picking up tips from one another on how to handle flowers, food, beverages and the like. The activity on the part of the food caterers was especially frantic and is to be well commended.
This particular party was held in the middle of Chelsea’s Sloane Square and had been blessed by really good weather – trust me when I say it looked very stunning. Though regrettably to work commitments I did not come back later, having been given invitations, I could imagine just how well run this event was and my congratulations goes out to the Botanist restaurant, who seemed to have organized it all. After all was well and truly done, we had gone over to another venue, this time a Brazilian restaurant, where the atmosphere was pretty much the same with staff getting on with it in anticipation of wedding guests arriving.
The first name basis did not surprise me anymore, but I did notice another, quite interesting thing I hadn’t seen before in the shape of the bride who was there with everybody, helping out and making sure things were done as agreed. After speaking to her for a few minutes I realized that her priority were her guests and she just wanted to make sure that they were taken care of to the fullest. I really enjoyed this comment and it was a little funny, as our priority is always with the bride and the groom and never do we really think outside of this, but I guess everyday you learn something and upon returning to the headquarters I was happy to learn that our other florist teams had returned with similar good results. All in all, it was a good last ‘crazy’ day at Flower Station and we are waiting in great anticipation for the next year to come along. We’re ready and waiting.
