Flowers at the 150th anniversary ball for the world famous Battersea Dogs and Cats Home

We are extremely happy to have supplied event flowers this week for the 150th anniversary ball for the world-famous Battersea Dogs & Cats Home. Appropriately, the event was held at the vast marquee at the Battersea Power Station and judging by the comments of our floral designers, who staged the flowers for the event: it had looked quite sublime and nothing short of terrific. Another quite cool and terrific thing was 150 dogs and their handlers who had formed a canine ‘Guard of Honour’ on the red carpet.

The celebrities included Amanda Holden, X Factor winner Alexandra Burke, Miss Great Britain Finalists, as well as Prince Michael of Kent (the patron of the charity) and many other celebrities. The highlight of the evening was a 40 minute gig by Spike’s All Star Band. They were formed by Spike Edney (Queen’s keyboard player) and featured rock legends such as Brian May and Roger Taylor (Queen’s guitarist and drummer/singer/songwriter respectfully), Patti Russo (female vocalist for Meatloaf), and Roger Daltrey (of The Who).

During the show it was also revealed that the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home had handled more than 3.1 million cats and dogs since it was established in 1860 – a spectacular amount by any measurements. The auction of Dreams had managed to raise £200,000 for this charity and we were very happy to hear that our flower arrangements were also a part of it and are somewhere out there sitting pretty in people’s homes.

The start of our flower decorating at the show

At the same time last week our wonderful, and very Duracell like, florists have also managed to do fabulous flowers for events at The Savoy and Jumeirah Carlton Towers (amongst others), as well as an enormous amount of Christmas decorating all over London (literally).
