Our favourite Easter blooms
Easter is one of the most awaited weekends every Spring; find some inspiration for which beautiful flowers to treat yourself, or others, to this Easter.
Perhaps it is rather fitting that Easter Sunday occurs exactly three weeks after the official commencement of Spring - a season where petals begin to blossom and flowers are blooming after the cold Winter. In fact, what resembles rebirth and renewal better than freshly picked flowers? Flowers are, unsurprisingly, a rather popular choice of gift for Easter celebrations. Not only are they perfect as a gift for loved ones, but a colourful bouquet of Spring flowers is also an ideal Easter decoration.
Below, we have shared our favourite Easter flowers with you, so keep reading for some inspiration for which beautiful flowers to treat yourself, or others, to this Easter.
Tulips
Tulips are one of our favourite flowers for Easter. They bloom at the beginning of Spring and hold meanings of rebirth - making them an ideal choice for Easter flowers. Blooming in a wide variety of vibrant colours, they capture the joy and warmth of Spring and will be sure to brighten up your home.
Easter lily
The Easter-lily is a type of lily that is so commonly found in Spring and popular for Easter that it has been named after the festival. The Easter lily typically blooms in white, a colour notably symbolising purity and has, for this reason, been long said to symbolise the resurrection of Christ. While these flowers are doubtlessly beautiful and have strong connections to Easter, it is crucial to remember that they are toxic to cats! So, if you own a cat, or know that a neighbour’s cat frequents your home/garden, perhaps this is not the most suitable flower of choice for you this Easter.
Daffodils
Daffodils are one of the first flowers to be found blooming in Spring and have therefore become one of the earliest signs that Spring has arrived. Like tulips, daffodils also represent rebirth and fresh starts, making them another perfect flower for the celebration of Easter.
Stocks
Stocks first bloom at the beginning of Spring, in March, and continue to bloom throughout the Spring until August. They are commonly found in an array of pastel tones. What’s more, they boast a delightful fragrance. They symbolise beauty and happiness, making them a perfect choice of flower to have in the house, or to gift to a loved one.
Carnations
Carnations are another one of our Spring favourites. A fun fact about these flowers is that they are one of the first flowers ever cultivated, discovered by the Ancient Roman, Theophrastus, one of the first ever botanists. They bloom in a beautiful variety of colours, with each colour boasting its own unique meaning.
Baby’s breath
Baby’s breath is a gorgeous, dainty and delicate flower that is not only loved by florists for its beauty, but also for its use as a filler flower, commonly added to bouquets to add texture and greater detail. It is a flower that most commonly is found in white, thus symbolising innocence and purity, drawing links to the purity of Christ at his resurrection.
Hyacinths
Hyacinths are yet another one of our favourite blooms for Spring. They grow in a lovely variety of colours, ranging from pink, purple, magenta and white. Not only are they stunning to look at, but they have an equally stunning scent. These flowers will be sure to freshen and brighten up your home for Easter!
Hydrangea
Hydrangeas are one of the most popular Spring flowers, blooming in shades ranging from blue to white. Not only do they look simply delightful in bouquets, but they are also a popular landscape flower. They are an excellent Easter gift, symbolisingunderstanding and gratitude - perfect to show a loved one how much they mean to you at this special family time.
Roses
Roses are undoubtedly one of the most popular flowers of all time, used for almost every occasion. Since roses grow in such a wide variety of shades, we are certain that there is a rose for every person on every occasion, making them a perfect addition to any Easter bouquet!
Gerberas
Gerberas are a wonderful flower, adding a burst of colour to its surroundings. They grow in a wide range of colours, including shades of pink, red, white and yellow.
