Buying a Christmas tree early has the advantage that you have the full choice of sizes. It allows you to browse and find the tree that is exactly right for your apartment. And did you ever consider putting a tree up on your balcony for everyone to see and enjoy? That would be a means to spread festive cheers among your neighbors and would allow you to get a larger tree that wouldn't necessarily fit into the apartment.
Today, we are already busy setting up trees for hotels, restaurants, and businesses and decorating them with all the lovely traditional decoration redolent of Christmas. Business owners that haven’t yet placed a pre-order with us are welcome to do so anytime. We are able to accommodate any wishes on short notice. A fully decorated Christmas tree could be standing in your restaurant or hotel lobby in just a few days for your guests to enjoy.
Buying your Christmas tree early is a good idea, too, even if you don’t plan to set it up immediately. Ideally, you just put it out onto the balcony, into the courtyard, or in any cool place you have. Leave it wrapped up and place it in a pail of water. Like that, it will be perfectly fresh whenever you are ready to transfer it inside. Leave it wrapped until you have it near to the place you want to put it up in because maneuvering the wrapped tree is less tricky than battling its branches every step you take.
Plan ahead when taking your tree inside. Once you peel it out of the netting, it takes 24 hours to stretch out fully. Give it that much time before decorating it. If you do it before it has fully stretched, you might be disappointed the next day if what looked perfect the day before suddenly seems unevenly distributed or unduly stretched.
Taking your tree inside is a shock for it. It needs water to keep on looking fresh and green. A small tree needs up to three litres of water the first three days, a large one up to six. Keep replenishing the water in the stand, therefore. You will notice that it will drop only very few needles if you do so. It needs water after that, too. The warmth in your apartment makes the needles transpire water all the time, and this has to be replaced if you don’t want it to shed.
If you use real candles, remember to spread cellophane (or something) on the floor to keep you from having wax stains on your carpet or floor. A covering of some sort makes sense, anyhow, to collect falling needles. No matter how well you look after your Christmas tree, all kinds of conifers constantly shed some needles. You may save yourself some cleaning if you prepare for it.
