A Spring Star – The Beautiful Iris Flowers

When looking to buy amazing, but inexpensive spring flowers, then why not go with the irises. They are hugely thankful and extremely versatile. Our florist designers simply love them and use them in traditional as well as contemporary arrangements. They are extremely popular and used as flowers for beautiful office flowers and are constantly featured in many of our event flowers at this time of the year. However, though our florists are very familiar with this beautiful flower, we do find that a lot of our customers are not – the iris is the equivalent of a forgotten cousin, much loved but not seen nearly often enough. Hence the article and our small request for you to go out and try them, either from our website or one of our stunning London florist shops.

For Mother’s Day in particular we have seen a huge rise in the purchase of irises and we have made sure to include them in our hand-tied bouquet displays, flower and even plant baskets. From what we hear so far, they really were loved and were a great success. So much so in fact that we will not only repeat this feat for next year’s Mother’s Day, but we are now also expanding our product range with irises and these new flower arrangements should be available to buy from our website by the end of this week.

If you’re looking to send iris flowers to your loved one, you should know that the iris is the Greek goddess for the messenger of love and her sacred flower is considered as the symbol of communication and messages. As such, in the language of flowers, the iris is the symbol of eloquence. Furthermore, depending on its colour, the iris flowers carry different meanings with blue iris symbolising hope and faith, purple iris is a symbol of wisdom and compliments, whilst the white iris is the symbol of all that is pure, as with most white flowers and plants.

The iris flower has also gone through a bit of regeneration in recent times and the varieties of this flower include Blue Magic and Casablanca irises which have flowers that open at the top of the stem, meaning that the end result is even more stunning and eye catching. We suggest combining iris stems with daffodils, or even tulips to make great flower arrangements in small pots, urns and any rustic tins to create fabulous arrangements that will look stunning in any household and will just get better and better in the week after you buy them. They will also look great on their own (as a possible kitchen table or a window arrangement) and can be combined with sweet scented eucalyptus too. Whatever your choice; we’re sure that the iris will not let you down, so go out and buy them today, or call our expert florists on 020 7724 7525. Remember, we are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!
