September: officially the end of summer, the kids are going back to school and many parents are going back to work. With routines falling back into place, it can be easy to neglect self-care. But we believe that treating yourself is important, especially when life is busy and stressful, and what better way to treat yourself than with a gorgeous bouquet of flowers?

September’s birth flowers are the aster and morning glory. So, this September, why not treat yourself, or a special September baby to a bright bouquet of this month’s beautiful blooms?

The Aster

Asters bloom in gorgeous shades of blue, purple and white. The name for this flower comes from the Ancient Greek word for ‘star’, as the shape of the flower very much resembles a star shape. These are colourful flowers that bloom from the end of summer through to early autumn.

Asters are known to symbolise powerful love. Folklore claims that asters were once burned in order to scare away snakes.

What does the Aster flower say about September babies?

Since the aster symbolises positivity, love, achievement and faith, it suggests that those born in September are loving, positive, friendly and high-achieving. September babies are also loyal and graceful, just like the graceful blooms of the Aster flower.

Morning Glory

Morning glories got their name from the way that the flower opens up everyday at sunrise. Watching the blooms of this flower open up is definitely a reason to wake up early! As the day closes to an end, the flower will close up again and the process repeats every day.

This flower blooms in shades of pink, purple and white, similar to the colours of the Aster flower. Just like the Aster, morning glories symbolise love and affection.

They have been used as medicine for hundreds of years. The flower has also been valued for its spiritual properties by the Aztecs, Mayans and Native American tribes of Mexico. Those who ate the seeds of this flower claimed to have communicated with the gods due to the seeds’ psychoactive properties.

In fact, the seeds of morning glory are poisonous and contain very similar chemicals to LSD. Symptoms of ingesting these seeds include hallucinations. These symptoms are unpredictable and can be very harmful.

What does the morning glory flower say about September babies?

Morning glories imply that September babies are loving and affectionate. In the Victorian times, it was believed that morning glories made September babies not only affectionate, but also humble and spontaneous.
