Orchid plants are one of the most diverse flowers in our flower shop. We source these delicate blooms in all shapes, colours, and sizes and their species types run into many thousands. Many orchids are quite colourful and fragrant and carry quite a few flowering plants too. Among the most popular orchids in our flower shop in London are cymbidiums, Phalaenopsis, vanda, and dendrobiums, which are sometimes called Singapore orchids too. Our lovely florists usually use orchid plants and flowers to create some of the most luxurious floral arrangements that one may have seen ever. For example, it has been often the case lately that we have used vanda orchid heads to create stunning flower bouquets and we often love using these with hydrangeas, roses, and amazing foliages.
From over one-meter Phalaenopsis orchids to amazing vanda plants in glass vases – we have it all. What’s more, is that every one of your orchids delivered can be hugely optimised and mixed with all our other plants and flowers that our wonderful London florists have to choose from in our stores.
We also do not just store the usual colours of pink and white, but often carry more unusual purple orchids and yellow orchids. Unlike supermarkets and standard flower shops that tend to sell phalaenopsis types only, we also love to carry other types of orchids such as Vanda, dendrobiums, and cymbidiums. Our London florists are all knowledgeable and know how to arrange orchid plants for your office or home. They are also experts in packaging them and especially in placing them inside some of the beautiful plant and flower vases we have on displays here.

Interestingly enough orchids like a variety of temperatures and one should always think before choosing a position to place them in your house. For example, after you receive an orchid delivery from our flower delivery fleet, it is best to keep your plant in an unheated room. If it’s a cymbidium plant as when they are placed in a warmer temperature their flower is often reduced greatly. On the other hand, if you receive the ever-popular Phalaenopsis orchid, it is very much advisable to place it into an indoor condition where the minimum temperature is around and at least 18 degrees.
Most orchids require or prefer bright but filtered light – meaning that direct sunlight is not always advisable, but light always is. Our flower delivery drivers usually get the best comments from our esteemed customers who place their orchids on kitchen window stills in the corner with plenty of light, but no direct sunlight. The great thing about this position is that it offers high humidity and one often remembers to water them once a week here too (ideally only once) as the water is often next to them as well. However, in the winter months, watering should be kept to a minimum.
Our florists suggest using the ice-cube watering technique. Simply place an ice cube directly onto the orchid roots and leave it to melt. This will help to improve water absorption and prevent root-rot.
The potted orchid plant will last indefinitely with the right amount care and attention – make sure to provide the right amount of water (don’t over feed) and always keep away from excessive cold.
While it is always to a certain degree a matter of taste, a potted orchid plant has the added value of lasting well beyond the particular occasion and serving as a poignant reminder of the gesture.
Orchids symbolise strength and virility, often being associated with good luck as well. So, if you receive a bouquet of orchids as a gift, that will mean that the person gifting wishes you good fortune.
Orchids come in different colours, with each symbolising something different.
White orchids symbolise purity and innocence
Pink orchids represent femininity and grace
Yellow orchids represent friendships and new beginnings
Purple orchids are a symbol of respect and admiration
Green orchids symbolise love and charm
Orchids do not require too much water for growth. On the contrary, a lot of water can cause problems like root rot and crown rot. They require water once per 7-10 days for healthy growth.
For orchids to keep on blooming, they require constant indirect sunlight, as well as water once per 7-10 days. Plus, room temperature is appropriate for their growth, so they should be kept in those conditions. Furthermore, occasional repotting of the flowers will help as well. Also, the spent blooms must be cut to make way for the new blooms.
Spraying water on orchids is not necessary, as they do not require too much water. Watering them once per 7-10 days would be enough.
Orchids may be placed outside where they receive indirect sunlight. So, if they are to be placed in a garden, find a spot where trees give them shade. If they are to be placed on the balcony, make sure that it is covered. Dappled light is perfect for their growth, so find a spot accordingly.
